Oct. 10

Rain-all night, all day. It is kind of a novelty as we so seldom have a soft rain for 24+ hours in eastern Colorado.

We had an interesting day exploring. We started out driving the "artisans loop" to see what kind of shops there were, took a wrong turn and ended up north of Pigeon Forge. We had been driving back roads admiring the homes and farms and all of a sudden we were on the main road back to Gatlinburg in bumper to bumper traffic. We pulled off and bought some groceries then asked the navigation on my phone how to get back to Gatlinburg. It gave us a meandering route taking about twice as many miles going back mostly the way we had come or the more direct route straight south. The shorter route was estimated to take 52 minutes longer! It didn't take us long to decide to head back to the country!

After getting back where we'd started, we went into the park and took the Roaring Fork loop. By this time it was late afternoon and the rain was mostly a drizzle. It was a pretty drive and not nearly as crowded as the drive yesterday. We can across a bunch of kids in a 4 door JK Jeep with a dead battery. They apparently had been stuck for quite a while and made the comment that nobody carries jumper cables anymore (obviously they didn't either). We were able to give them a jump and get them going again. Their parting comment was, "Jeep community to the rescue".

We made it back to town for church and then a yummy barbecue supper.

Here are a few pics from today.
