Sunday we had booked a trip on the "red bus" that takes you on a tour of the park. Even though it was taking us on the Going to the Sun Road up to Logan Pass where we had already driven on Friday, we thought it would be fun to take the bus and hear the history and commentary of the bus driver. Also, David would be better able to look at the scenery instead of doing the driving. The buses are really neat. They were originally built for the park in 1936 and have been completely refurbished with bigger engines, modern brakes, etc. Just this history of the buses was very cool. There were 35 built for the park and 33 are still being used (one is in the process of being refurbished and one was lost in an accident when some young men took it for a joy ride back in the 70's). The morning started out overcast and we were afraid that we wouldn't be able to see anything, but it quickly cleared and we had a beautiful day.
This was our last day for Glacier as we will head south in the morning. We still have five days to explore as we hope to meet up with the kids and grands next Saturday in Fort Collins.
Here are some pictures from today.
